MSN, Masters Nurse Anesthesia, CRNA

Updated: Jun 15

During my surgical rotation in nursing school, I fell in love with the OR's excitement, challenge, and adrenaline. Soon, I became curious about the nurse anesthetist. I found myself asking a ton of questions to CRNAs about their responsibilities. As a result of this passion developing over time, I now feel I have the necessary drive, high motivation, and meticulous attention to detail to perform this vital role in health care.

The CRNA's skills, knowledge, professionalism, passion, the enormously high level of responsibility, and the CRNA's autonomy - all appeal to me.  I believe I will feed and blossom on this energy, never burning out. I am drawn to the stressful yet enormously well-planned environment—with routinely scheduled surgeries interspersed with the high-risk, critically ill patients that arrive without notice.  I would be comfortable working in a privately owned clinic or a metropolitan hospital.  I look forward to a certain level of flexibility, which will leave room for volunteer endeavors in the future.

My short-term goal is to gain as much knowledge and skill as possible studying to qualify as a CRNA; a very dedicated student (as suggested by my 4.0 undergraduate GPA), I hope to graduate near the top of my class and then obtain my CRNA license. My long-term goal is to help educate future nurse anesthetists, serving as a clinical instructor for a nurse anesthetist program.  Assisting prospective students in gaining the experience, confidence, and expertise they will need will help me continually challenge myself and broaden my horizons, fully utilizing every aspect of the state-of-the-art anesthesia education that I hope to gain at XXXX. I see the ongoing development of my nursing skills as a lifetime project and the acquisition and application of scientific knowledge as one of my job's most rewarding aspects. Within time, I very much look forward to being seen as a mentor, someone that will have the answers to the questions and is always willing to take the time to explain the complexities of nursing issues, always ready to go that extra mile, calm, cool, relaxed, and enormously devoted to patient care.

As a critical care nurse, I feel confident in the excellent care I provide.  I enjoy and embrace learning and increasing my knowledge base.  I am highly focused and understand this program's intensity and demanding nature. I am goal-oriented and highly committed to being a CRNA.  My shadowing experiences have reinforced this desire further and helped me realize how much I still need to learn.  In turn, this has strengthened my motivation to continue my professional career growth across the broad gambit of essential issues in nursing. I am especially interested in researching areas of ethical dilemmas and situations that occur in the healthcare field. As a graduate student, I look forward to dynamic discussions of these issues and learning from my peers and faculty.

I keenly look forward to the rigors of your program, eagerly awaiting the challenge. And I am most confident that I will be able to excel.  I want to thank you for considering my application.
