Lehman College is a public college located in the Bronx, New York. It is a senior college in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman College offers a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program through its Department of Nursing. The Family Nurse Practitioner program at Lehman College is designed to prepare registered nurses to provide primary healthcare services to individuals across the lifespan, including infants, children, adults, and older adults. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care in a variety of healthcare settings.

The FNP program at Lehman College typically consists of a combination of classroom instruction, clinical rotations, and practical experiences. Students learn about advanced nursing concepts, health assessment, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and advanced practice nursing in primary care.

The program also focuses on promoting health and preventing diseases, diagnosing, and managing common acute and chronic illnesses, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. However, the students pursuing their master's degree at Lehman’s College Family Nurse Practitioner Program received a huge shock when it was confirmed that Lehman’s College will have their accreditation revoked last month.

Luckily, relief has come the way of the students as the proposed withdrawal of the accreditation has been postponed. A concerned student who works as a medical care nurse at Montefiore medical center stated that she was so distraught as she wasn’t sure what her future would have been like before the good news broke out that they would now be eligible to take the certificate examinations which helped to dispel the fear and frustration that two years of challenging work studying for the exams would not be in vain.

The nurse who pleaded anonymity said she was incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to complete the program by writing the exams which would make her dreams come true. A Lehman’s college spokesperson said they are working hard to help their spring graduates finish to enable them to take the test before the month of March.
